Sadly, due to financial hardship and a lack of classroom space The Crescent Academy in Stoke-on-Trent had to turn their library into an extra classroom. This meant that the children no longer had a place to browse and enjoy age appropriate books. Literacy and access to books is a key determinant in educational outcomes, but just as importantly books are one of life’s great pleasures and something that we feel strongly about!
The school was determined to have a library space, and not having the funds to construct a library building wasn’t going to stand in their way. In March this year the school bought an old houseboat which they are turning into a library space. All that’s left now is to fill it, and that’s where you come in.
We are collecting new or mint condition books and financial donations on behalf of the school. To get the ball rolling we are donating 10 copies of Striker Boy plus £100. If you would like to help please send your books to, 2Simple, Top Floor 2-10 Baron Street, London, N1 9LL. You can send cash or cheques to the same address, or if you’d like to make a payment online click here and use the reference ‘BOOKBOAT‘.
If you have any questions at all or would like to get involved in a different way please email firstname.lastname@example.org
